Five Tool Kit Musts

There are five tools that should be in every tool box: tin snips, a tape measure, a hammer, a screwdriver, and channel lock pliers. These essentials are great for everyone’s toolkit.

Tin Snips - Zip ties are a favorite for cable management. Tin snips are great for removing zip ties as the sharp hooked jaw tips make it extremely easy to get underneath tight cable ties and snip them off without nicking whatever they are binding. Also, they give you more control when cutting and cut straight and flush.

Tape Measure - Tape measures have been in use for a long time, whether out of leather, cloth, metal or plastic. Tape measures are indispensable tools used to build houses, to tailor clothes and to ensure fairness in trade and sports, pretty much any situation where we need to know the length of something. You will definitely find a use for one for many (any!) of your house projects.

Hammer - A hammer is a simple tool designed to drive nails, brads and other fasteners into softer materials such as drywall or wood. They can also be used as an aide in demolition and destruction. While it seems a mundane tool, the value of a hammer is innumerable.

Screwdriver - An essential tool used to install, remove, tighten and loosen screws and fasteners. They are a handy tool made in different sizes, shapes and often have interchangeable heads.

Channel Lock Pliers - These pliers can be used to grip and crush items, such as crimping the end of metal pipes or other metal objects. They can be adjusted to accommodate any size object by sliding and locking the jaws in place. Channel lock pliers also have grooves in the jaws to keep the pliers from slipping.
